AGGRESSIVE & REACTIVE
DOG TRAINING.

For owners facing barking, lunging, biting, or other behavior that makes everyday life difficult. We begin by understanding the dog in front of us.

Aggression toward dogs or people

Growling, snapping, or biting can happen in very different situations: around unfamiliar dogs, when a person approaches, or when a dog feels pressured in its own space. The behavior alone does not tell us why it is happening. We look at your dog’s history, body language, confidence, energy, and the situations that bring out the response.

If your dog has bitten someone or you are concerned about anyone’s safety, include that history on the evaluation form before your visit. It helps us prepare for the appointment and discuss sensible next steps.

Leash reactivity and lunging

A dog who barks or lunges on a walk is not automatically aggressive. Fear, frustration, excitement, or a combination of factors can look similar from a distance. We observe what happens before and after the reaction so the training plan fits the dog rather than just the visible behavior.

For some dogs, obedience skills are part of the answer. For others, building confidence, changing how they respond to triggers, and helping the owner manage difficult moments matter just as much. Learn how we choose a training path.

What happens at the evaluation

First, tell us about your dog and your goals on the online form. Then we meet in person at our Hopewell Junction training center to observe your dog, hear what is happening at home, and discuss a realistic approach. Evaluations cost $85 and usually take 30–45 minutes.

We work with owners as well as dogs. Depending on the case, training may involve reading early signals, clearer handling, useful obedience, behavior work, and practice between lessons. Serious aggression calls for careful management and ongoing effort; no particular outcome or timeline can be promised from an evaluation.

Owners come to us from Poughkeepsie, Hopewell Junction, Fishkill, Wappingers Falls, Beacon, and other Hudson Valley communities.
